In India, there are two primary service providers for PAN cards.
- The National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL)
- UTI Infrastructure and Technology Ltd (UTIITSL)
These two institutes provide PAN card services on behalf of the government. You can apply for a new PAN card or request corrections on your PAN card through their service portals. Both of these agencies will take the same amount of time to issue PAN cards.
A PAN card is mandatory for all taxpayers and individuals participating in financial transactions. The PAN card has simplified and centralised tax management by providing information to maintain transparency in financial transactions. Let us now discuss the process of how to check PAN card status.

It is important to note that the time taken to process your application depends on the mode of application. The online application process is usually faster than the offline mode. It can take up to 15 days, whereas offline applications can take up to 30 days.
