PAN card application tracking service is offered via a specialised SMS service. All you need to do is send an SMS – NSDLPAN followed by the 15-digit acknowledgement number to 57575. 

You will receive an SMS from the portal with an update on your current application status.

It is important to note that the time taken to process your application depends on the mode of application. The online application process is usually faster than the offline mode. It can take up to 15 days, whereas offline applications can take up to 30 days.

Tracking via Telephone Call

Another way to check PAN application status is by calling 020-27218080 from your phone. It is the number of the TIN call centre. You can call the call centre between 7 AM and 11 PM to talk to the representative or use the IVR between 11 PM and 7 AM to check the application status. Keep your 15-digit acknowledgement number handy while you call.

In case you don’t have the acknowledgement number, you can also request an update by providing your name and date of birth when prompted.

Online Tracking 

If you are internet savvy, you can also check your PAN card application status online. You can track it on the NSDL or UTIITSL portals. Here is the step-by-step process of checking PAN card status online.

  • Go to the NSDL website’s PAN card tracking page
  • Go to ‘Application Type’ and Click ‘PAN- New/Change Request’
  • Enter the Acknowledgement Number 
  • Enter the Captcha code and Submit

Those who have applied through the UTIITSL website can also check their PAN card application status on the official UTIITSL portal.

  • Go to the UTIITSL website 
  • Navigate to ‘Track PAN Card Application Status’
  • Enter your PAN card number (for correction) or the application coupon number 
  • Enter your Date of Birth
  • Type in the Captcha and Submit

Track Your PAN Using PAN Number

You can also check your PAN card status by PAN number. It is a facility available when you have applied for an update or correction on your PAN card.

Track PAN Card Status With Date of Birth

As of now, there is no procedure to track PAN applications using name and date of birth alone. But you can validate your PAN card details by entering your full name and date of birth on the official e-filing portal of the Income Tax Department. Here are the steps to follow.

  • Go to the e-filing portal 
  • From the Quick Link section select Verify Your PAN
  • Enter your Name, Date of Birth, PAN card number, and mobile number to Continue
  • Enter the OTP you have received on your mobile number to Validate 
  • A new screen will display the message ‘Your PAN is Active and the details are matching with PAN database’
