How to Change Photo and Signature in PAN Card?

Visit the official website of the Protean eGov Technologies Limited (formerly NSDL). 

Click on ‘Changes or Correction in existing PAN data/Reprint of PAN Card’. 

Select “Individual” under the category. 

Enter your name, mobile number, email ID, date of birth, Indian citizenship confirmation and PAN number. 

Enter the given captcha code and choose ‘Submit’. 

Note down the token number generated at this point. 

Select how you want to perform the KYC process. 

Select the check box next to ‘Photo Mismatch’. 

Enter your personal details in the “Address and Contact” section. 

Provide documents as proof of the following -  

Identity 

Address  

Date of birth. 

If you can submit a copy of your Aadhaar card, the above three proofs will not be required. Also, you must submit a copy of your PAN or PAN allotment letter. 

Tick the box making the declaration and choose “Submit” for submission of your details. If you want to make changes, you can click on “Edit” to further update your information. 

Make the required payment, including GST. The exact amount depends on whether your address is inside India or outside it. 

Save the application and take its printout. 

Send the application over to PROTEAN’s address, i.e. ‘INCOME TAX PAN SERVICES UNIT (Managed by Protean e-Governance Infrastructure Limited)’ at 5th Floor Mantri Sterling, Plot No. 341, Survey No. 997/8, Model Colony, Near Deep Bungalow Chowk, Pune-411 016. 

Remember to enclose the required documents along with the form. 

You will receive the 15-digit acknowledgement number for tracking the status of the application.

Submit the application form and make the necessary payment. You will receive an email of acknowledgement. 

Print the acknowledgement form and attach two recent photographs of yourself. The photographs should be 3.5cm*2.5cm with a white background. 

The photographs should be pasted in the proper place and not clipped or stapled. Do not put your signature over it. 

If Aadhaar-based e-KYC and e-Sign/e-Verify are completed, then no physical documents or courier submission is required. 

If Aadhaar e-KYC is not completed, print the acknowledgement form, attach the required documents, and send it to the Income Tax PAN Services Unit (Protean eGov Technologies Limited), Pune. 

Fill out the same ‘Changes or Correction in existing PAN data’ online form. But under ‘For Paperless PAN Application’, choose ‘No’. 

Submit the application form and make the necessary payment. You will receive an email of acknowledgement. 

Print the acknowledgement form. 

Make sure that your signature or left thumbprint is kept within the relevant box. 

Submit the acknowledgement form and the other document proofs to the following address - Income Tax PAN Services Unit, Protean e-Gov Technologies Limited, 5th floor, Mantri Sterling, Plot No. 341, Survey No. 997/8, Model Colony, Near Deep Bungalow Chowk, Pune - 411016.

Proof of Date of Birth 

In case AADHAAR is mentioned then a copy of your Aadhaar Card. 

Additional documents 

Copy of PAN card/allotment letter as proof of PAN. 

Proof of request for change 

If you are changing the photo, then add the new photos. The photo size should be 3.5 cm x 2.5 cm or 132.28 pixels x 94.49 pixels. 

Do not use abbreviations when writing your first, middle or last name on the form. 

If you are requesting for your company, partnership or firm, then enter the entire name, such as XYZ Pvt Ltd, under the last name section. 

Type names in the second row if they do not fit in the first row.
