Indian markets are likely to open positive tracking global indices and SGX Nifty.

U.S. stocks showed a lack of direction over the course of the trading day on Wednesday. The major averages once again spent the day bouncing back and forth across the unchanged line and eventually the indices ended the day modestly lower. The Dow slid 0.5 percent to 33820 and the Nasdaq dipped 0.3 percent to 14051.

U.K. stocks edged higher on Wednesday as investors cheered a batch of positive earnings updates.The benchmark FTSE 100 inched up by 0.2 percent to 6960.

Indian shares posted strong gains third day in a row on Wednesday. Positive global cues solid earnings results and expectations that active cases in the ongoing second COVID19 wave in India will peak between May 14 and 18 helped Indian shares end higher. The benchmark BSE Sensex rallied by 1.6 percent to 49734.
