Indian markets are likely to open negative tracking global indices and SGX Nifty.

The US stocks showed a lack of direction early in the trading day on Thursday but moved mostly lower over the course of the session. The pullback on the day partly offset the strong gains posted in the previous session. The Dow dipped by 0.4 percent to 24474 and the Nasdaq fell by 1 percent to 9285.

UK stocks were moving lower on Thursday with rising U.S.China tensions and concerns about a new spike in coronavirus cases denting investor sentiment. The FTSE 100 dropped by 0.2 percent to 5988.

On domestic front Indian shares rose for a third straight session on Thursday though the upside remained capped amid concerns that the coronavirus pandemic will have a cascading effect on the global as well as domestic economy. The benchmark BSE Sensex was up by 0.4 per cent to 30933.
