Indian markets are likely to open negative tracking global indices and SGX Nifty.

US stocks moved modestly higher over the course of the trading session on Wednesday but pulled back sharply going into the close. The volatility on the day came on the heels of the steep drop seen in the previous session. The Dow was flat at 25967 while the Nasdaq fell by 0.3 percent to 7943.

U.K. stocks fell on Wednesday with uncertainty over the U.S.China trade talks and weak earnings updates keeping investors nervous. The benchmark FTSE 100 was down by 0.3 percent at 7238.

On domestic front Indian shares ended sharply lower on Wednesday to close at their lowest levels in over a month as weak global cues amid rising trade tensions between the U.S. and China triggered a bout of risk aversion. The benchmark BSE Sensex plunged by 1.3 percent to 37789.
