Indian markets are likely to open flat tracking global indices and SGX Nifty.

The US stocks saw some further downside during trading on Thursday. The major averages all moved lower on the day with the techheavy Nasdaq posting a particularly steep loss. The Dow fell 0.5 percent to 27901 and the Nasdaq tumbled 1.3 percent to 10910.

UK stocks recovered from early lows on Thursday but still ended the session notably lower weighed down by warnings from the Federal Reserve and the Bank of England about the outlook for the economy. The FTSE 100 was down by 0.4 percent to 6049.

On domestic front after opening with a big negative gap on weak global cues the Indian stock market pared some losses Thursday morning but was still notably down in the red as the mood continued to remain bearish amid lingering worries about growth. The benchmark BSE Sensex was down by 0.8 percent to 38979.
