Indian markets are likely to open negative tracking global indices and SGX Nifty.

US stocks moved mostly higher during the trading day on Thursday extending the upward move seen over the course of the two previous sessions. With the continued advance the major averages have largely offset the steep drop seen on Monday. The Dow climbed 0.8 percent to 25862 and the Nasdaq jumped 1 percent to 7898.

U.K. stocks recovered from an early slide to edge higher on Thursday and the pound drifted lower as Prime Minister Theresa May faces a showdown with the 1922 committee over timetable for her resignation. The benchmark FTSE 100 was up by 0.2 percent at 7313.

On domestic front Indian shares closed higher on Thursday despite mixed global cues amid fears the U.S.China trade row may escalate. The benchmark BSE Sensex was ended up by 0.7 percent to 37393.
