Indian markets are likely to open positive tracking global indices and SGX Nifty.

The US stocks showed a lack of direction over the course of the trading session on Thursday. The choppy trading on the day extended the lackluster performance seen throughout the past week. The Dow as well as the Nasdaq were flat at 27782 and 8479 respectively.

The UK stocks were moving lower on Thursday as several companies traded exdividend and weak data from China and Japan stoked worries about slowing global growth. The FTSE 100 fell by 0.5 percent to 7316.

On domestic front Indian shares ended a choppy session modestly higher on Thursday helped by fagend buying in banking and IT stocks. The benchmark BSE Sensex rose by 0.4 per cent to 40286.
