Indian markets are likely to open negative tracking global indices and SGX Nifty.

U.S. stocks moved sharply lower over the course of the trading session as traders returned to their desks following the long holiday weekend. The major averages all showed notable moves to the downside with the Nasdaq and the SP 500 falling to their lowest closing levels in almost two months. The Dow Jones closes down to 1.9% to close at 23644. The NASDAQ ended down by 2.7% to close at 6870.

U.K. stocks rallied amid improved risk appetite after the Dow Jones Industrial Average posted its thirdbiggest point gain ever overnight on hopes that a trade war between the U.S. and China is avoidable. The FTSE 100 was up by 0.2% to end at 7057.

On domestic front Indian shares ended notably higher as trading resumed after a fourday holiday weekend. The BSE Sensex ended up by 0.9% at 33255.
