Top Gainers and Losers on September 04, 2025: M&M Lead Gainers and HDFC Life Among Top Losers

On Thursday, September 4, 2025, Indian equity benchmarks Sensex and Nifty gave up early gains due to the expiry of Sensex F&O contracts but still managed to end higher.
The GST Council’s decision to simplify the tax regime into two slabs, 5% and 18%, is likely to bring down rates on essential goods while maintaining higher taxes on luxury and sin products.
Amid this, the BSE Sensex surged 888.96 points (1.03%) to hit an intraday peak of 81,456.67, before settling 150.30 points (0.19%) higher at 80,718.01. Similarly, the Nifty50 climbed 265.7 points (1.07%) to touch an intraday high of 24,980.75, but closed just 19.25 points (0.08%) up at 24,734.30.
