Chennai-based aviation startup The ePlane Company has partnered with global technology leader NVIDIA to accelerate the development of the e200x, India’s first electric air taxi. The collaboration aims to fast-track innovation in the country’s emerging urban air mobility sector by combining advanced simulation tools with high-performance computing.
The partnership marks a major milestone for India’s electric aviation ambitions, placing cutting-edge AI and digital twin technology at the heart of aircraft development.
The ePlane Company is leveraging NVIDIA’s Omniverse software to create a detailed digital twin of the e200x aircraft. This virtual model will allow engineers to simulate complex flight physics, evaluate sensor performance, and test emergency scenarios — all in a cloud-based environment before physical test flights begin.
Using high-performance computing infrastructure and advanced graphics processing units (GPUs), the system can render aerodynamic physics in real time. By conducting millions of virtual flight kilometres, the company aims to validate structural and algorithmic decisions digitally, significantly reducing development risks.
Beyond simulations, ePlane plans to integrate NVIDIA’s computing platforms directly into the e200x. The startup intends to become the first in the region to certify its aviation platform using NVIDIA’s safety-critical hardware stack.
The onboard system will process continuous data streams from cameras and radars, enabling the electric air taxi to make autonomous, real-time decisions. This is crucial for passenger safety and operational reliability in urban environments.
The digital twin will also function as a predictive analytics engine. By mirroring the exact configuration of physical aircraft components, the system can anticipate maintenance needs and detect part degradation before mechanical failures occur.
This approach is expected to accelerate innovation while strengthening safety protocols, ensuring that real-world performance matches virtual testing outcomes.
The partnership comes as NVIDIA expands its footprint in India’s technology ecosystem, recently collaborating with major IT firms such as HCLTech during the India AI Impact Summit 2026.
