Bengaluru-Based Murf AI Launches Falcon 2, Takes on OpenAI and ElevenLabs

Murf AI, a Bengaluru-based startup, has released Falcon 2, a new text-to-speech model, as per The Economic Times news report. Available publicly from August 20, 2026, the model comes as companies including OpenAI and ElevenLabs continue to grow work in AI-generated voices.
Falcon 2 was earlier available to a small group of Murf's clients. On Artificial Analysis, which independently tracks AI model performance, it scored above some competing products, including OpenAI's Realtime API.
The Cost Difference at Scale
Murf has priced Falcon 2 at $0.01 per minute of generated speech. For one million minutes, the cost works out to $10,000, based on the company's pricing.
Murf said generating the same volume through ElevenLabs Turbo and Flash would cost $50,000. The model is aimed at businesses that need to process large volumes of automated voice interactions, including call centres, banks and airlines.
Training Based on Actual Interactions
The model was trained using examples that included customer calls and booking flows, instead of only scripted voice recordings. Murf said this was to help the system deal with the way people speak in everyday conversations.
According to the company, Falcon 2 can change its pronunciation, pace and emphasis depending on the context. It is also designed to read details such as dates, currencies, addresses and licence plate numbers.
More Than 150 Voices Available
Falcon 2 supports over 150 voices in more than 35 languages. It responds in under 100 milliseconds and can handle up to 10,000 calls at a time, Murf said.
The company will provide cloud support that allows data to remain in 11 geographies. Businesses can also deploy the technology within their own cloud infrastructure.
Murf's Business and Clients
Founded in 2020 by Sneha Roy, Ankur Edkie and Divyanshu Pandey, Murf AI is backed by Matrix Partners and Elevation Capital. It says it serves more than 10 million users across 300 companies.
Its clients include Honeywell, Cisco, Pfizer, VMware, Nestlé and Air France-KLM. Murf said it works with voice actors who agree to their voices being used under contracts that include royalties and data protection.
