TATA.ev Expands Battery-as-a-Service to Entire Electric Vehicle Portfolio

TATA.ev is expanding its Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) option across its electric vehicle range, as per news reports. The company had initially introduced the model for the Tiago.ev and Punch.ev and is now adding the Nexon.ev, Curvv.ev, Sierra.ev and Harrier.ev.
With BaaS, buyers do not have to include the full battery cost in the upfront price of the vehicle. The battery is financed separately, giving customers another way to structure their EV purchase.
Battery and Vehicle Financed Separately
Under the BaaS model, the vehicle and battery are handled through separate loan accounts. Customers can choose flexible loan tenures for the two components.
The battery EMI depends on factors such as the battery size, down payment, and selected tenure. Charging, maintenance, repairs, and other related expenses are not included in the battery EMI.
Option Now Covers Entire EV Range
The expansion means BaaS is now available across TATA.ev's full electric vehicle portfolio. The models covered are Tiago.ev, Punch.ev, Nexon.ev, Curvv.ev, Sierra.ev and Harrier.ev.
Customers can therefore choose the financing structure based on how they want to manage the initial cost of buying an EV.
TATA.ev Keeps Outright Purchase Option
BaaS does not replace the conventional purchase option. Customers can still buy the vehicle with its battery as part of the purchase price.
The separate battery financing arrangement is an additional option for those who want to reduce the amount they pay upfront for the EV.
Management Highlights Customer Choice
Vivek Srivatsa, Chief Commercial Officer, TATA.ev, said growing EV acceptance and demand in India is creating a need for greater choice, including the way customers finance their vehicles.
He said customers can either purchase the EV along with the battery or choose BaaS to lower the upfront acquisition cost.
