Flipkart has introduced Flipkart Pay Later, an embedded credit solution designed to offer customers greater flexibility when making purchases on its platforms, according to news reports. The service has been launched in partnership with PayU Finance and is available across Flipkart, Myntra and Flipkart Minutes.
Customers can select from multiple repayment options at checkout depending on the value and nature of their purchases. The move comes as e-commerce companies increasingly integrate financing services into the online shopping experience.
Flipkart Pay Later allows customers to choose from 3 repayment structures during checkout. The first option is a Pay Later facility that gives eligible users up to 30 days to repay their purchases.
Customers can also select Pay in 3, which splits the purchase amount into 3 instalments. For higher-value transactions, the platform offers Equated Monthly Instalments (EMIs) with repayment tenures ranging from 3 to 12 months.
The new credit offering has been rolled out across Flipkart's major digital commerce platforms. According to the company, customers shopping on Flipkart, Myntra and Flipkart Minutes can access the service while completing purchases.
The facility is designed to support both routine purchases and larger-ticket transactions. Eligible product categories include mobiles, electronics, appliances, furniture, fashion, home products, beauty items and general merchandise.
PayU Finance, the non-banking finance company (NBFC) arm of PayU, is the first lending partner for the programme. As the licensed lender, PayU Finance will provide the credit facilities offered through the platform.
Flipkart Finance will manage customer relationships and support credit assessment through the use of commerce-related data. The company also stated that it intends to add more lending partners as the programme expands in the future.
Credit decisions under the programme will be based on multiple factors, including transaction history, purchase behaviour and other platform-generated signals. Flipkart said these inputs will be combined with PayU Finance's lending and risk management processes to evaluate customer eligibility.
The company noted that multiple data sources will be utilised to support responsible credit extension. This approach is intended to balance customer access to financing with established lending and risk assessment standards.
