Government Approves 31 Electronics Component Projects Worth ₹7,877 Crore Across 10 States

As per The Moneycontrol news report, the government has approved 31 projects with investments of ₹7,877 crore under the Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS).
The projects cover 10 states and are to produce goods worth ₹82,243 crore and create close to 10,000 jobs. IT Secretary S Krishnan announced the approvals at an event organised by the Electronics Industries Association of India (Elcina) and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).
Components in the List
The projects cover camera and display modules, connectors, enclosures, anode materials, transducers and rare-earth permanent magnets. Other products include optical transceivers, speakers and microphones, relays, hermetic terminals, and antennas.
The list also includes electrolyte additives, metallised films for capacitors, coils, filters, capacitors, metal shielding covers and copper-clad laminates. Companies named include Jyoti CNC Automation, SkyQuad Electronics & Appliances, Epsilon C2GR, Micromax Precision Moulding and TXB Optics.
Wipro Raises Investment
Quantum Magnetics, Sensata Technologies, PCBL Chemical, Rosenberger Interconnect, and Amphenol Interconnect are also among the companies covered by the approvals.
Wipro Global has increased the investment planned for a copper-clad laminate project approved earlier. The increase is ₹1,033 crore, taking the total proposed investment to ₹1,401 crore.
ECMS Crosses Its Original Target
With the latest approvals, 106 applications have now been cleared under ECMS. They cover around 30 product categories across 15 states.
Total investment under the approved projects has reached ₹69,548 crore, against the original target of ₹59,350 crore. Expected production has reached ₹5,34,101 crore, compared with the initial target of ₹4,56,500 crore.
Projects Already Under Construction
Some projects are already under construction or are moving towards commercial production. These include Tata Electronics' enclosure plant in Hosur, Kaynes' PCB plant near Chennai, Dixon Technologies' display and camera module facility in Noida and Wipro's laminate plant.
The ECMS was notified on April 8, 2025, with an initial outlay of ₹22,919 crore. The outlay was raised to ₹40,000 crore in Budget 2026-27.
Electronics Exports
The Economic Survey 2025-26 said electronics was India's third-largest export category in 2024-25, compared with seventh in 2021-22. Electronics exports stood at $22.2 billion in the first half of FY26.
India has set a target of $500 billion in domestic electronics manufacturing by 2030-31.
