ePlane Collaborates with Nvidia to Build India’s First Electric Air Taxi, e200x

The ePlane Company has entered into a technology collaboration with Nvidia to develop India’s first electric air taxi, the e200x.
The partnership focuses on simulation-led development and advanced onboard computing to accelerate safe deployment in urban markets.
Digital Twin to Power Simulation Led Development
Under the collaboration with Nvidia, ePlane will deploy Nvidia Omniverse libraries to create a full digital twin of the e200x aircraft. This virtual model will be used to test flight physics, autonomy logic, sensor fusion and complex mission environments that are costly and risky to replicate physically.
The company will also integrate Nvidia IGX as the onboard computing platform to host critical flight and autonomy applications. Through large-scale simulation, the aircraft will complete millions of virtual kilometres, enabling algorithm training across extreme weather events, sensor failures and potential collision scenarios before live testing.
As per news report, Satya Chakravarthy, Founder and Chief Technology Officer, said, “We are not just building an aircraft; we are building an ecosystem.” He added that validating operations through simulation allows the company to “push the limits of the aircraft thousands of times in simulation so that we never have to in reality.”
Prototype Built, Certification Process Next
The IIT Madras-incubated startup has already completed its first prototype. Ground testing is expected to begin in the coming months, with 2 additional prototypes planned ahead of the certification process with DGCA authorities.
Bakthakolahalan Shyamsundar, Principal Engineer – Avionics Systems and Autonomy, confirmed that certification preparations are underway and that officials are working alongside the team in Chennai.
Following testing and approvals, the company aims to launch services in Bengaluru, Mumbai and Chennai to address urban congestion challenges.
Separately, Nvidia has also partnered with AI Grants India under its NVIDIA Inception programme to support up to 500 AI startups over the next 12 months with tools, models and technical training.
