Pixxel Raises $100 Million in Series C Funding Led by Temasek and Seraphim

Pixxel has raised $100 million in a Series C funding round co-led by Temasek and Seraphim. New investors 360 ONE Asset and IMM Investment joined the round, along with existing investors including Radical Ventures and growX ventures.
The latest funding takes Pixxel's total funding to $195 million. The company said this is the biggest funding round raised by an Indian space technology company.
Pixxel Plans New Satellite Technologies
Pixxel started with hyperspectral satellites that can capture information about the Earth that normal satellite images may miss. It has since added Aurora, its Earth intelligence software, along with satellite systems for commercial and government missions.
The company plans to use the new money to work on its next-generation Honeybee hyperspectral satellite constellation. The first Honeybee satellite is expected to launch in 2027.
Pixxel also plans to add technologies such as synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and ultra-high-resolution optical imaging to its satellite systems.
Aurora and Government Projects
The company will continue developing Aurora, which brings data from different sources together and turns it into information that can be used for decision-making.
Pixxel also plans to work more on Earth observation systems for government missions, including civil, defence and intelligence applications.
Expansion of Manufacturing
Pixxel plans to increase its satellite manufacturing capacity in both India and the US. The company said this will help it produce advanced satellites at a higher rate.
Over the past two years, Pixxel has launched six Firefly satellites and started Aurora. It has also secured contracts with NASA and the NRO, won several iDEX challenges from India's Ministry of Defence and was selected to lead the development of India's first public-private Earth observation constellation of 12 satellites under IN-SPACe.
