Several banks across India will remain closed today to mark Diwali and other regional festivals. Closures vary by state depending on local traditions, as per the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) holiday calendar.

Diwali 2025 Bank Holiday on October 20

Most states will celebrate Diwali on October 20, during which banks will remain closed in:

Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, New Delhi, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal.

Which States Will Not Have Diwali 2025 Bank Holiday Today?

Some states, including Maharashtra, Sikkim, Jammu and Kashmir, Manipur, Madhya Pradesh, and Odisha, will celebrate Diwali on October 21, and banks in these states will remain closed on that day instead.

  • October 27 and 28:Banks in Bihar and Jharkhand will remain closed for Chhath Puja.
  • October 27:Banks in West Bengal will also observe a holiday.
  • October 31:A nationwide holiday will be observed for Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s Birth Anniversary.

Regular Weekly Holidays

In addition to festival holidays, banks will remain closed on Sundays (October 19 and 26) and the fourth Saturday (October 25) as per standard weekly offs.
