Diwali 2025: When Are BSE and NSE Closed for the Festival of Lights?

As Diwali 2025 approaches, investors should be aware of the stock market holiday schedule for the festival. Both the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) will remain closed on key days of celebration, with a special trading session on one day.
Market Closures for Diwali 2025
For Diwali 2025, the stock markets will be closed for regular trading on:
- October 21, 2025 (Tuesday) – Diwali Laxmi Pujan
- October 22, 2025 (Wednesday) – Diwali-Balipratipada
Regular trading will resume after these holidays. Since Dhanteras falls on a Saturday in 2025, markets will already be closed for the weekend.
Muhurat Trading Session
On Diwali Laxmi Pujan (October 21, 2025), there will be a special Muhurat Trading session from 1:45 PM to 2:45 PM, with trade modifications allowed until 2:55 PM. This auspicious one-hour session is a traditional practice that allows investors to trade while celebrating the festival. It is the only trading opportunity on Diwali day.
