Ride-hailing giant Uber has partnered with Adani Group to establish its first data centre in India, marking a significant step in the company’s technology expansion strategy in the country.
The announcement was made by Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi after meeting Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani in Ahmedabad on Wednesday.
Khosrowshahi said the partnership reflects India’s growing importance as a technology and innovation hub for Uber, with the company planning to test and deploy advanced technologies from the country.
According to Uber, the upcoming data centre will strengthen its ability to build and scale global technology solutions from India. The facility is expected to become operational later this year.
The partnership also builds on Uber’s existing collaboration with the Adani Group and comes at a time when India is emerging as a major destination for artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and data infrastructure investments.
In a social media post, Khosrowshahi said India is rapidly becoming a leading innovation hub for Uber and highlighted the company’s long-term technology ambitions in the country.
The latest partnership further strengthens Adani Group’s growing presence in India’s data centre and AI infrastructure sector.
Earlier, Adani Enterprises, through its joint venture AdaniConneX, partnered with Google to develop a large AI-focused data centre campus in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
The proposed project is expected to involve investments of nearly $15 billion between 2026 and 2030 and will include large-scale data centre operations supported by renewable energy infrastructure and subsea cable connectivity.
The initiative is also being developed alongside ecosystem partners such as Bharti Airtel to strengthen India’s AI and computing capabilities.
India’s rapid digital adoption, growing AI ecosystem, and expanding cloud infrastructure demand are attracting significant investments from global technology companies.
Industry experts believe rising demand for AI workloads, data localisation requirements, and digital services is accelerating the need for large-scale data centres across the country.
