Tata Electronics has collaborated with Japan’s semiconductor company ROHM Co. to assemble and test automotive-grade Si MOSFET chips in India.
The production is scheduled to begin by 2026 as the companies strengthen their joint semiconductor capabilities for Indian and global markets.
On December 22, 2025, Tata Electronics announced its agreement with ROHM Co. to assemble and test automotive-grade Nch 100V, 300A Si MOSFET chips.
These components, designed in India, will be packed using the TOLL package technology and are targeted for mass production and shipment by 2026. The chips are intended for use in electric vehicles and other automotive applications.
The companies aim to serve both Indian and international markets through this collaboration. ROHM will contribute its device technology while Tata will use its assembly and test infrastructure for chip packaging and delivery.
The partnership between Tata Electronics and ROHM will also lay the groundwork for a power semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem in India.
The collaboration is expected to promote Domestic Value Addition (DVA) and ensure a stable, region-specific supply chain to meet rising demand within India.
Both firms are also exploring co-development of advanced packaging techniques to accommodate evolving market needs.
Tata Electronics is building India’s first commercial semiconductor fabrication unit in Dholera, Gujarat, in collaboration with Taiwan’s PSMC. The project involves a $11 billion investment and will produce up to 50,000 wafers monthly using 28nm to 110nm technology.
In addition, a dedicated Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) facility is coming up in Jagiroad, Assam, with a $3 billion investment.
