History of Tata Group
In 1878, Jamsetji Tata started a Trading Firm that later evolved into the Tata Group. Currently, the group operates in 10 verticals with 30 companies. They operate in more than 100 countries across six continents in the world. In 2022-23, the revenue of Tata Companies was $150 billion (₹12 trillion) altogether. These companies employ over 1 million people.

Jamsetji Tata, Founder
Jamsetji Tata is the founder of the Tata Group. His ambitious initiatives were pivotal in driving India into the league of industrialised nations. He established a trading company, which subsequently transformed into the Tata Group. Following his demise in 1904, his family got control of the Group, shaping it into a global conglomerate with over 100 companies.
Natarajan Chandrasekaran, Chairman
Natarajan Chandrasekaran is the Chairman of Tata Sons, the holding company and promoter of all Tata Group companies. After a professional career of 30 years in TCS, he joined the Board of Tata Sons in October 2016 and was also appointed as the Chairman in January 2017. He also chairs the Boards of several group operating companies, such as Tata Steel, Tata Power, Tata Motors, Tata Chemicals, Air India, Indian Hotel Company, Tata Consultancy Services and Tata Consumer Products.
