NSE IPO: SBI, New India Assurance, IFCI, Bank of Baroda and GIC RE Share Price in Focus

The NSE IPO, if launched as proposed, could rank among India’s largest public offerings, as per news reports. NSE has filed its DRHP with the regulator, but the issue dates, valuation, size and price band are yet to be decided.  

The IPO is expected to be entirely an offer-for-sale, with shareholders proposing to sell 14,89,05,525 shares. 

Selling shareholders in focus 

Shares of NSE’s listed selling shareholders have seen varied movements since the DRHP was filed on 17 June 2026. New India Assurance and IFCI recorded sharp gains in Friday’s intraday trade, while SBI and GIC RE have also remained in focus. 

New India Assurance Share Performance  

New India Assurance share price rose 17% to ₹229.30 during Friday’s session, marking a fresh 52-week high. Trading volume increased six-fold, with 38.92 million shares changing hands across the NSE and BSE.  

The stock moved above its previous high of ₹218, recorded on 22 June 2026. The insurer owns a 1.52% stake in NSE and plans to sell 1.05 crore shares, acquired at an average cost of ₹0.32. 

IFCI Sees Heavy Volumes 

IFCI share price gained 12% to ₹107.45, its highest level since December 2007. Around 289 million shares were traded across the two exchanges, equivalent to 39% of the company’s free-float equity.  

IFCI owns 52% of Stock Holding Corporation of India, which is a selling shareholder for more than 1.09 crore NSE shares. IFCI shares have gained as much as 15% since the DRHP filing. 

SBI Leads Shareholder List 

SBI is the largest selling shareholder and plans to sell 2.47 crore NSE shares. It owns 7.98 crore shares, representing a 4.4% stake, acquired at an average cost of ₹0.80 per share.  

SBI share price gained more than 10% after the DRHP filing before giving up those gains and trading near ₹1,023. 

Bank of Baroda and GIC RE 

Bank of Baroda plans to sell 1.6 crore NSE shares and owns a 0.89% stake. Bank of Baroda share price has fallen 15% since 17 June and is trading at around ₹240.  

GIC RE plans to sell up to 1.06 crore shares from its 4.07 crore NSE holding. GIC RE share price has remained largely flat at around ₹353.

Other Shareholders 

LIC of IndiaIndian BankSBI Life InsuranceTata Investment CorporationHDFC Bank and Balkrishna Industries are among the other companies holding smaller stakes in NSE. 

Conclusion 

The NSE IPO has brought its listed selling shareholders into focus, with their share prices showing different movements since the DRHP filing. Details of the issue size, valuation, price band and dates are yet to be announced.
