EPL Stake Sale: Blackstone Sells 26.38% Holding for ₹2,032 Crore

Blackstone Group has sold its entire 26.38% stake in EPL Ltd for ₹2,032.33 crore through an open-market transaction on September 1, 2026, as per a PTI news report.
The shares were sold by Epsilon Bidco Pte Ltd, an affiliate of Blackstone and the former promoter of EPL, which was earlier known as Essel Propack Ltd.
As per NSE bulk deal data, Epsilon Bidco sold 8,44,79,781 shares at ₹240.57 apiece. This completed Blackstone’s exit from the Mumbai-based packaging company.
Quant Mutual Fund Makes Largest Purchase
Quant Mutual Fund bought 1.43 crore shares, representing a 4.48% stake, for ₹345.07 crore. Quant Small Cap Fund already held 2.47% of EPL as of June 2026.
Bandhan Mutual Fund purchased 20.82 lakh shares, or 0.65% of EPL, for ₹50 crore at ₹240.10 per share. It held a 3.33% stake in the company as of June 2026.
EPL Shares Fall 8.28%
EPL shares fell after the transaction was reported. The stock opened sharply lower and closed at ₹240.35 on the NSE, down 8.28%.
The stock saw heavy volumes during the session as the 8.44 crore shares held by Epsilon Bidco were sold in the market.
Institutional investors bought 3.37 crore shares from the total shares sold by Epsilon Bidco. These purchases accounted for 10.5% of EPL’s equity.
Other Institutional Deals
Public Sector Pension Investment, ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund, Edelweiss Mutual Fund, Aditya Birla Sun Life Insurance Company, Abu Dhabi Investment Authority and 360 ONE bought the remaining 1.72 crore shares for ₹414.3 crore at ₹240.10 per share.
Other bulk deals reported on the NSE included BNP Paribas Financial Markets selling 10.19 lakh shares, or 0.66%, in Happiest Minds Technologies for ₹37.42 crore.
TIMF Holdings bought a 0.58% stake in Symbiotec Pharmalab for ₹37.30 crore, while Nexus Global Opportunities Fund acquired an additional 1.11% stake in Wonder Electricals for ₹12.12 crore.
