JioStar Bags Exclusive TV and Digital Rights for The Hundred 2026 in India

JioStar has secured the exclusive television and digital broadcasting rights for the 2026 edition of The Hundred in India, as per The Economic Times news reports.
The rights were previously held by Sony Pictures Networks India. Under the new agreement, every match from both the men's and women's competitions will be available on JioHotstar, while television broadcasts will be carried on the Star Sports Network.
A total of 68 matches will be covered during the tournament.
Tournament to Run Until August
The sixth edition of the England and Wales Cricket Board's (ECB) 100-ball competition will begin on 21 July with a double-header at The Oval. The opening day includes women's and men's matches between MI London and SunRisers Leeds.
The tournament will conclude with the finals at Lord's on August 16. First introduced in 2021, The Hundred was delayed by one year because of the Covid-19 pandemic before its inaugural season.
Franchise Changes This Season
The 2026 edition will be the first after changes in ownership across several franchises. Oval Invincibles will now compete as MI London, Northern Superchargers have been renamed SunRisers Leeds, and Manchester Originals will play under the name Manchester Super Giants.
These changes follow investments by new ownership groups in a number of teams ahead of the new season.
Players Across Men's and Women's Competitions
The men's competition includes players such as Jos Buttler, Jofra Archer, Rashid Khan, Heinrich Klaasen, Phil Salt, Tim David, David Miller and Harry Brook. The women's tournament will feature Indian players including Smriti Mandhana, Richa Ghosh, Deepti Sharma, Jemimah Rodrigues, Kiran Navgire, Shweta Sehrawat, Asha Sobhana and Nandani Sharma.
The competition continues to feature a mix of international and domestic cricketers across eight city-based franchises.
Broadcasters Continue to Compete for Sports Rights
The acquisition comes as broadcasters continue to expand their portfolios of live sports rights in India. Cricket remains the largest segment, with companies also holding rights for ICC events and overseas leagues alongside football and Formula One.
Live sports continue to account for a significant share of viewership across television and digital platforms, making media rights a key area of competition.
Conclusion
The media rights agreement makes JioStar the exclusive broadcaster of The Hundred 2026 in India, adding the ECB's 100-ball tournament to its portfolio of live cricket properties.
