The India Deep Tech Alliance (IDTA), a $1 billion consortium of venture capital funds and global technology firms, is set to invest between $10 million and $15 million in emerging deep technology startups.

The alliance, which includes industry giants Nvidia and Qualcomm alongside top Indian investors, aims to strengthen India’s innovation pipeline across sectors such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, biotechnology, defence, and space.

Fueling India’s Deeptech Revolution

Unveiled at Semicon India 2025, the IDTA brings together a mix of venture funds, including Celesta Capital, Accel, Premji Invest, Blume Ventures, Gaja Capital, Ideaspring, Tenacity Ventures, and Venture Catalysts. The initiative focuses on supporting startups at seed to Series B stages, offering both capital and access to global expertise.

Collaborative Capital and Strategic Support

Nvidia has joined the alliance as a founding member and strategic advisor, pledging to provide technical guidance, training, and access to its AI computing platforms. Qualcomm Ventures, Activate AI, Chiratae Ventures, Kalaari Capital, and InfoEdge Ventures have also come on board as investors, signalling growing confidence in India’s deeptech potential.

Aligning with India’s Research and Innovation Agenda

The IDTA complements the government’s ₹1 trillion Research, Development and Innovation (RDI) Scheme, which seeks to accelerate domestic research and manufacturing capabilities in strategic sectors.

By combining funding, mentorship, and technical partnerships, the alliance aims to bridge the gap between laboratory innovation and market deployment. With deeptech funding in India rising 78% to $1.6 billion last year, though still only a fifth of total startup capital, the IDTA’s entry could significantly expand the scale and sustainability of the sector.

The India Deep Tech Alliance marks a pivotal step in building a robust ecosystem for high-technology innovation. By aligning global expertise with Indian entrepreneurship, the consortium seeks to turn promising scientific advances into scalable global enterprises, positioning India as a major player in the next wave of deeptech innovation.
