Adani Solar, part of Adani Green Energy Ltd has achieved a key milestone by shipping over 15,000 megawatts (MW) of solar modules to domestic and international markets, the first and fastest Indian company to reach this mark. Of this, 10,000 MW were used within India and 5,000 MW exported abroad, equivalent to 28 million solar panels covering nearly 7,500 football fields.
About 70% of these modules were made using Adani’s locally produced solar cells, highlighting its contribution to the Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives. The company plans to boost its manufacturing capacity from 4,000 MW to 10,000 MW by the next financial year, with a goal to ship another 15,000 MW soon.
Adani Solar is the only Indian company listed among the world’s top 10 solar module producers by research firm Wood Mackenzie. The report also noted that India’s solar module capacity is expected to exceed 125 GW by 2025, more than triple the current domestic demand.
With over 550 district outlets and 35 exclusive partners, Adani Solar runs India’s largest solar distribution network. Its efforts have powered around 5 million homes, created 2,500 green jobs, and helped avoid 60 million tonnes of carbon emissions each year.
Adani Solar is also the leading supplier in India’s rooftop solar segment, providing 1.78 GW of modules in the past year and contributing 54% of the modules used in the government’s Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. This initiative aims to bring solar energy to 10 million homes by 2027.
