Novartis India Share Price in Focus; Approves ₹1,250 Crore Acquisition of Minipress & Minipres Trademarks

Novartis India’s board has approved the acquisition of the Minipress and Minipres trademarks registered in India, along with certain related intellectual property rights, from Pfizer Inc. USA and Pfizer Products Inc. USA.
The decision was taken at the board meeting held on 7 September 2026, according to the company’s stock exchange disclosure. The total consideration for the transaction is ₹1,250 crore (₹1250,00,10,000).
Agreements Signed on September 7, 2026
Novartis India has entered into an asset purchase agreement and trademark assignment deeds with the two Pfizer entities following the board’s approval.
The company said the signing and closing of the transaction under the asset purchase agreement will take place simultaneously. The agreement covers the transfer of the two trademarks and related intellectual property rights in India.
The parties involved are Novartis India, Pfizer Inc. USA and Pfizer Products Inc. USA. The transaction involves the assignment of the Minipress and Minipres trademarks in favour of Novartis India.
Minipress XL Recorded ₹228.6 Crore Revenue
The disclosure also gives details of Minipress XL, which contains prazosin. Based on IQVIA MAT July 2026 data, the product recorded revenue of ₹228.6 crore.
Minipress XL’s revenue has grown at a 6.3% CAGR over the past four years, while the category has recorded a 9% CAGR over the same period.
In India, the medicine is primarily indicated for hypertension, or high blood pressure, and for managing urinary symptoms linked to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
No Related-Party Transaction
Novartis India said the transaction is not a related-party transaction. Pfizer Inc. USA and Pfizer Products Inc. USA are not related to the company’s promoter, promoter group or group companies.
The disclosure also states that there is no shareholding in the entities involved in the agreement.
