The Tamil Nadu government has assured beneficiaries that the May 2026 instalment under the Kalaignar Women’s Entitlement Assistance Scheme will be credited soon, as per ANI reports. The clarification comes after delays in the monthly payment sparked criticism from opposition parties and concerns among beneficiaries across the state.
Under the welfare scheme, eligible women receive ₹1,000 every month as direct financial assistance. The amount is transferred directly into beneficiaries’ bank accounts to support household expenses and financial stability.
According to officials, Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay has instructed concerned departments to ensure the pending instalment is released at the earliest. The government stated that the delay was caused due to ongoing restructuring efforts aimed at improving the implementation of the scheme.
Authorities said the restructuring process is intended to streamline operations, improve efficiency, and ensure smoother fund transfers in the future. Officials also indicated that additional verification and system upgrades are being carried out as part of the process.
The Kalaignar Women’s Entitlement Assistance Scheme is one of Tamil Nadu’s major welfare initiatives focused on supporting eligible women through direct benefit transfers. The scheme aims to provide regular financial assistance to women from economically weaker households and strengthen social welfare coverage in the state.
