Centre Launches Second Phase of Rural Entrepreneurship Campaign to Achieve 6 Crore Lakhpati Didis Goal

The Ministry of Rural Development has launched the National Campaign on Entrepreneurship II under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana National Rural Livelihoods Mission for a 3-month period from August 21 to November 21, 2026.
The campaign aims to strengthen rural women entrepreneurship by focusing on Farm, Non-Farm enterprises and wider market access for SHG products.
Campaign Launched on World Entrepreneurs Day: Vision of 6 Crore Lakhpati Didis
The campaign was launched on August 21, which is observed globally as World Entrepreneurs Day. It has been introduced with a focus on creating stronger opportunities for rural women entrepreneurs and supporting the vision of making 6 crore Lakhpati Didis.
The extended phase will build on the earlier campaign experience by focusing on enterprise handholding, formalisation, producer institutions and simpler implementation processes. It will support SHG women in moving from livelihood activities towards structured enterprises.
SHG Enterprises to Gain Support Through Digital and Market Linkages
The campaign will promote entrepreneurship among SHG women across Farm and Non-Farm livelihoods. It will also strengthen community enterprise promotion cadres, encourage enterprise formalisation and expand digital and e commerce adoption.
CRP EPs and BDSPs will be recognised as Udyam Sakhis to provide greater visibility to community members supporting enterprise development. The initiative will also encourage participation through platforms such as ONDC, GeM and other digital channels along with buyer seller meetings and institutional market connections.
Rural Women Entrepreneurship Targets Under the National Campaign
The campaign has set several targets, including orientation of 50,000 community cadres, entrepreneurship and livelihood training for 5 lakh SHG women, creation of a database of 5 lakh adolescent girls from SHG households and formalisation support for 50,000 enterprises.
It also aims to strengthen Producer Groups and Producer Enterprises by adding 2 lakh members, promote agro ecological practices among 20 lakh women and onboard 25,000 SHG members on e-commerce platforms.
Role of Rural Women Entrepreneurship in Enterprise Growth
A key focus of the campaign is strengthening both Farm and Non-Farm livelihood systems by converting suitable activities into sustainable women led enterprises. The initiative will work alongside existing structures such as CRP EP, EDP, SVEP and OSF to support enterprise creation and expansion.
