The Majhi Ladki Bahin scheme in Maharashtra continues to see delays as many women struggle to correct e KYC information on the reopened online portal, a situation highlighted in reports dated February 10, 2026.
Women who missed payments for the last 3 to 4 months were told their accounts were blocked due to incomplete e KYC. After the portal was reopened last week by Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare, several beneficiaries reported being unable to log in or update their details.
The deadline for corrections is set for 31 March, yet many claim the system remains inaccessible and helpline numbers are unanswered.
A wrongly worded question in the e KYC form mistakenly classified more than 24 lakh women as state employees, resulting in the suspension of the monthly assistance of ₹1,500.
The scheme, which costs the state around ₹3,700 crore each month, supports approximately 2.25 crore women. Payments for Jan and Feb are still pending, partly due to the model code of conduct.
Beneficiaries such as Sarita from Paud village have expressed the need for district‑level help desks to assist with the digital process.
One unnamed woman, who has not received money for the last 2 months, suggested the creation of special offices. Physical verification by Anganwadi workers was halted after staff protests, leaving digital channels as the sole option.
Minister Tatkare announced that the portal will remain open for e KYC corrections until 31 March and that beneficiaries unable to complete the process online will be verified later.
Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde indicated a possible increase in the assistance amount from ₹1,500 to ₹2,100, though the state faces fiscal pressure from multiple welfare programmes.
Despite the portal’s reopening, technical glitches and limited support continue to hinder Ladki Bahin beneficiaries from updating e KYC details, affecting timely receipt of monthly assistance.
