India and Australia Seal Uranium Supply Agreement for Clean Energy Growth

India and Australia have taken a significant step in expanding their bilateral partnership by operationalising their civil nuclear cooperation, paving the way for Australian uranium supplies to India, as per news reports.
The announcement came during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Australia, where both countries also unveiled several initiatives spanning clean energy, defence, technology and strategic cooperation.
Uranium Supply to Support Clean Energy
The 2 countries signed the administrative arrangement required to implement the 2015 Australia-India Nuclear Cooperation Agreement, enabling Australia to export uranium to India for peaceful purposes.
Prime Minister Modi said, "Australia will supply uranium to India. We have signed an important agreement in the field of nuclear energy. It will give new momentum to our clean energy goals."
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese confirmed that the arrangement formally enables uranium exports under the 2015 agreement.
