
From July 6 to 10, 2026, India is hosting the 13th ASEAN-India Trade in Goods Agreement (AITIGA) Joint Committee meeting at Vanijya Bhawan, New Delhi, as per the PIB news report.
The meeting aimed to review the progress of negotiations under the AITIGA Review, with discussions held in a hybrid format.
The Joint Committee directed the Sub-Committees to expedite the finalisation of outstanding chapters under the AITIGA Review.
Strategic guidance was provided to the Sub-Committees, including the Sub-Committee on Customs Procedures and Trade Facilitation, the Sub-Committee on National Treatment and Market Access, and the Sub-Committee on Rules of Origin.
These meetings are crucial for deepening cooperation and advancing dialogue between India and ASEAN.
The meeting on July 7, 2026, was co-chaired by Shri Nitin Kumar Yadav, Additional Secretary, Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, India, and Ms. Mastura Ahmad Mustafa, Deputy Secretary General (Trade), Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry, Malaysia.
Delegations from all ASEAN Member States, including Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Viet Nam, participated.

ASEAN remains a key trading partner for India, accounting for around 11% of India's global trade. Bilateral trade between India and ASEAN reached $128 billion during 2025–26, reflecting a robust economic partnership and providing opportunities to expand trade and investment cooperation.
The 13th AITIGA Joint Committee meeting underscored the importance of expediting the finalisation of review chapters. With ASEAN accounting for 11% of India's global trade and bilateral trade reaching $128 billion in 2025–26, the meeting highlighted the ongoing commitment to strengthening economic ties.
