About Amara Raja Energy & Mobility
Amara Raja Energy & Mobility Limited (formerly Amara Raja Batteries Limited) is the flagship company of the Amara Raja Group, which was incorporated in 1985. It is a top technology leader and a major player in the Indian storage battery industry, specialising in lead-acid batteries for automotive and industrial use. After 4 years of incorporation, it signed a technology agreement with GNB Batteries Inc. in 1989.
The company expanded its business and launched batteries for Indian Railways in 1993. It diversified its business operations into automotive batteries in 1997 by signing a JV with Johnson Controls Inc. In 2008, it launched the Amaron Probike Rider, the first AGM battery for two-wheelers. The company inaugurated the World’s largest integrated Medium Valve Regulated Lead Acid (MVRLA) battery plant in Andhra Pradesh in 2014.
In 2018, it joined the World Economic Forum as an official member. In 2023, the company changed its name to Amara Raja Energy & Mobility Limited from Amara Raja Batteries Limited.

- Automotive Batteries: Under this segment, the company offers a wide range of battery solutions for passenger vehicles, three-wheelers, two-wheelers, commercial vehicles, farm vehicles, and home UPS/inverters.
- Industrial Batteries: The company provides battery solutions in segments like UPS, Telecom, Railways, Defence and Motive through this segment.
- Amara Raja Advanced Cell Technologies (ARACT): The company runs this business through its subsidiary Amara Raja Advanced Cell Technologies Private Limited (ARACT) to house the Li-ion initiatives.

As of March 31, 2023, the company has 3 subsidiaries, which are given below:- Amara Raja Batteries Middle East (FZE) (ARBME), Sharjah, UAE: It is a wholly-owned subsidiary which looks after the Middle East operations of the group.
- Amara Raja Circular Solutions Private Limited (ARCSPL): It is a wholly-owned subsidiary involved in setting up a Battery Recycling Plant in Cheyyar, Tamil Nadu, and the commercial operations are yet to commence.
- Amara Raja Advanced Cell Technologies Private Limited: A wholly-owned subsidiary engaged in the process of setting up a Lithium Cell Gigafactory and Battery Pack Assembly Plant and the commercial operations are yet to commence.

Mr. Galla is a Political Science and Economics graduate from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, USA.
