Wipro has revised its hybrid work policy with stricter office attendance norms, making it compulsory for employees to work from the office for a minimum of 6 hours on designated days starting January 1, 2026, as per news reports.
As part of the updated policy, Wipro employees are now required to be physically present in the office for at least 6 hours on the mandated three days per week.
Failure to meet this condition will result in a half-day leave deduction for that day. If an employee does not fulfil the weekly three-day attendance requirement, additional leave will be deducted accordingly.
The six-hour criterion is measured based on the punch-in and punch-out time at the office premises. This policy addition is aligned with the company’s hybrid work model already in effect and applies across Wipro's Indian operations.
While the 6-hour office presence is mandatory, Wipro has clarified that the total daily work duration remains 9.5 hours.
Employees are expected to complete the remaining 3.5 hours from home on the same day. This ensures full delivery of tasks while fostering in-person collaboration.
In terms of flexible work, the number of allowable remote workdays for personal or health reasons has been reduced to 12 days annually, down from 15. These days are intended for events such as illness or caregiving duties.

The adjustments come amid a climate where technology firms are aiming to boost collaboration due to compressed development cycles and fast-paced project demands.
The earlier practice of infrequent application rollouts has shifted to more agile models, often delivering new software in as little as 8 weeks, necessitating closer team interactions.
Accordingly, roles involving product development or execution—sometimes referred to as transformational work—are prioritised for in-office presence, while independently executable tasks like data handling or legal work may still be performed remotely.
As of January 07, 2026, at 9:19 AM, Wipro share price on NSE was trading at ₹267.50 up by 0.72% from the previous closing price.
Wipro’s updated work from office policy focuses on ensuring collaboration while maintaining hybrid flexibility. By enforcing a minimum six-hour office presence and adjusting remote work privileges, the company aims to adapt to faster delivery timelines without significantly disrupting employee flexibility.
