Ola Electric Mobility Limited has announced the rollout of its first ‘Shakti’ energy storage system from its Gigafactory in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu.
Built on the company’s 4680 Bharat Cell platform, the product marks Ola Electric’s move beyond electric vehicles into residential battery energy storage.
The development reflects the company’s focus on domestic manufacturing and energy technology solutions.
Ola Electric confirmed that the first Shakti unit has been manufactured at its battery Gigafactory in Krishnagiri.
The rollout represents a step in scaling up the company’s 4680 Bharat Cell platform and signals expansion into the battery energy storage system (BESS) market for homes, farms and small businesses.
With Shakti, Ola Electric is introducing a residential battery storage solution designed to provide backup power and energy management for households and commercial users.
The company positions the product as a portable and on-demand energy resource developed for Indian operating conditions.
Shakti is powered by Ola’s in-house 4680 Bharat Cells and is designed, engineered and manufactured in India.
The system offers multiple battery configurations ranging from 1.5 kWh to 9.1 kWh. It features rapid changeover during power interruptions, protection against voltage fluctuations, and sealed batteries designed for dust and water resistance.
The company has integrated digital controls that allow users to monitor battery performance and energy flow in real time.
The system is designed to analyse usage patterns and offer automated energy optimisation, helping users manage consumption and costs.
Shakti units are intended to support household appliances and equipment such as refrigerators, air conditioners, induction cookers, farm pumps and communication systems.
The company stated that charging times can be as short as two hours, with backup power capacity depending on load conditions.
Ola Electric has opened reservations for Shakti through its official website with a booking amount of ₹999. The company has not yet disclosed final delivery timelines.
Ola Electric share price closed down 0.13% at ₹39.49 on the NSE on Jan, 12.
