Indian IT majors including Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys and Wipro have issued travel advisories for employees in West Asia following escalating tensions involving the US, Israel and Iran, as per news reports.

IT Firms Suspend Travel and Advise Staff to Stay Indoors

Tata Consultancy Services advised its associates in the Middle East to stay indoors, avoid non-essential travel, and follow guidance issued by local authorities.

The company suspended all incoming and outgoing travel to and from West Asia, including transit, as airspace across several countries remains closed.

It activated an internal call tree to contact employees in impacted and bordering regions and said it is coordinating with authorities and the Indian Embassy for updates.

Infosys Urges Employees to Defer Travel

Infosys asked employees scheduled to travel within the next 48 hours to check airline updates and consider deferring their plans. The company advised staff in transit to follow airline instructions and remain calm.

It also discouraged non-essential travel until further notice and stated that official travel advisories would be issued for necessary trips.

Wipro and LTIMindtree Issue Precautionary Guidance

Wipro sent an internal advisory directing employees to follow local government guidelines and avoid travel to 11 countries in the region due to airspace and airport closures.

LTIMindtree also advised employees to exercise caution and avoid travel amid the developing situation.

Business Exposure in West Asia

Indian IT companies have expanded operations in West Asia in recent years as regional economies diversify beyond oil revenue.

For TCS, West Asia and Africa contributed 2.3% of revenue, while for Wipro, which includes Asia Pacific in the same segment, the contribution stood at 11%.

Conclusion

With escalating geopolitical tensions leading to airspace closures across parts of West Asia, Indian IT companies have implemented precautionary travel advisories and safety measures for employees. The developments highlight operational considerations for firms with growing exposure in the region.
