Indian headline indices, which began the trading session lower, later recovered due to notable gains in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) and banking sectors. However, heavy selling pressure was observed in the broader markets.
At 10:35 am, the BSE Sensex added 0.12% reaching a level of 80,811. The Nifty 50 index gained 0.10% to the 24,638 level. On the Sensex, Hindustan Unilever, Bajaj Finserv and State Bank of India were among the top gainers, whereas UltraTech Cement, Adani Ports and Tata Steel were among the market draggers.
