The Maharashtra traffic police has officially stated that there will be no settlements of pending e-challan fines during the state-wide Lok Adalat scheduled for December 13, 2025, as per the news reports.

Citizens are advised to disregard viral social media claims suggesting waivers or discounts on their penalties.

No Waivers or Discounts for E-Challan Cases in Lok Adalat

The Additional Director General of Police (Traffic), Mumbai, clarified that false information regarding e-challan discounts during the upcoming Lok Adalat is being spread through platforms like YouTube and Instagram. These posts incorrectly claim that traffic fines will be reduced or waived on December 13, 2025.

Authorities emphasised that the Maharashtra State Legal Services Authority’s job is to address specific traffic cases, but no arrangement has been made for mass e-challan settlements on that particular date. The warning comes amidst concerns over the growing number of financial frauds linked to such misleading posts.

Efforts to Curb Misinformation and Fraud

Citizens have been cautioned against interacting with unofficial payment links or providing personal information on social media platforms masquerading as government support channels. Genuine traffic-related notices will only be issued through verified government portals and outlets.

Superintendent of Police (Headquarters), Sunil Bharadwaj, representing the office of the ADGP (Traffic), issued a clear directive. Anyone whose case is actually listed by the District Legal Services Authority must check directly with the local court or their area’s designated traffic police officials for accurate case information.

Public Advisory for Safety and Caution

To minimise the risk of fraud, citizens are strongly urged not to believe or forward unverified posts regarding traffic fine settlement opportunities. Many of these false updates can lead to loss of personal funds or misuse of private information.

The traffic department reminded the public that authentic updates will be disseminated on official government platforms only. Verification through these sources is essential before taking any further action regarding traffic penalties or court settlements.

Conclusion

The Maharashtra traffic police has clarified that there will be no e-challan settlements during the December 13 Lok Adalat. Citizens should avoid falling prey to social media rumours and ensure they engage only with official communication channels for traffic-related updates.
