In Assam, Matri Pitri Vandana falls on 14–15 Nov 2025, but banks are expected to remain open unless officially notified as a holiday.

The Assam government has introduced the Matri Pitri Vandana scheme — a special initiative granting state employees two days of casual leave in November to spend with their parents and parents-in-law. As per a government notification, the dates earmarked for this leave in 2025 are 14–15 November.

Will Banks Be Affected?

Despite the special leave granted under this scheme, there is no official notification declaring banks closed for the holiday. Banking operations in Assam typically follow central-government and region-specific bank holiday calendars, which list public holidays for banks under the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) schedule. Unless the RBI or the concerned state bank authority issues a specific holiday notice, banks will remain open as usual.

What Should Customers Do?

If you plan to visit a branch tomorrow in Assam:

  • Check the holiday list published by your bank (public sector or private).
  • Confirm with your local branch by phone.
  • Keep in mind that electronic banking services (net-banking, mobile apps) are unlikely to be impacted even if a branch is closed.

Conclusion

While Matri Pitri Vandana on 14–15 November 2025 is a meaningful gesture by the Assam government, it is a state-civil-service casual leave scheme and does not automatically translate into a bank holiday. Unless your bank formally announces closure, you should expect full banking operations.
