The 8th CPC has extended the deadline for submitting responses to its 18-point online questionnaire to March 31, from the earlier cut-off of March 16.

The move is aimed at ensuring broader participation from central government employees, pensioners, unions, and other stakeholders. The feedback will help shape key recommendations related to pay structure, allowances, pensions, and service conditions.

The questionnaire is available on the Commission’s official portal and forms an important part of the consultation process.

Responses To Be Submitted Via MyGov Platform

The Commission has clarified that all responses must be submitted exclusively through the MyGov platform. Submissions via email, paper, or PDF formats will not be accepted.

The questionnaire is accessible in both English and Hindi, ensuring wider reach and inclusivity. Feedback collected will be analysed in aggregate, with individual identities kept confidential.

The survey covers multiple areas, including revisions in pay structure, pension provisions, classification of allowances, and employment-related conditions.

Commission Mandate And Ongoing Consultation

The 8th Pay Commission was constituted by the Government of India under the Union Cabinet’s Terms of Reference (ToR) to review and recommend revisions in salaries, pensions, and related benefits for central government employees and pensioners.

The Commission was formally notified in late 2025 and has been given 18 months to submit its report. Its official portal, launched in February 2026, provides updates, guidelines, and access to the consultation process.

The extension of the deadline follows requests from employee associations and stakeholders seeking additional time to provide detailed inputs.

Conclusion

The extended deadline provides stakeholders with an opportunity to contribute to the Commission’s recommendations, which will play a key role in shaping future pay and pension structures.

While the consultation process is currently underway, there is no official timeline yet for the submission of the final report or implementation of revised pay structures. Historically, such changes follow a phased process involving recommendation, approval, and rollout.
