Capgemini India has announced that Sanjay Chalke will become its new chief executive officer (CEO) from 1 January, following the retirement of Ashwin Yardi, as per the news reports.
The Paris-headquartered IT services group confirmed the transition on Wednesday, marking a significant leadership reshuffle at its largest global hub.
Chalke, currently the chief operating officer (COO), will join Capgemini’s group executive committee and focus on reinforcing India as a centre of client delivery, talent and innovation. Yardi, who led the India operations through a period of rapid expansion, will move into the role of non-executive chairman of Capgemini India’s board, nurturing relationships with stakeholders and supporting Chalke during the transition.
As per the news reports, Capgemini CEO Aiman Ezzat praised Yardi’s contribution, saying: “Ashwin has been instrumental in establishing Capgemini’s industry leadership and talent in India. During his leadership, Capgemini in India has seen significant growth, expanding from 105,500 to nearly 180,000 team members. I am deeply grateful for his outstanding contributions throughout his 30-year career within the group.”
On Chalke’s appointment, he added: “I am equally delighted to welcome Sanjay Chalke as the new CEO of Capgemini in India. Under his leadership, we look forward to accelerating our growth even further, deepening our impact, and continuing to strengthen India as a centre for innovation, technology and transformation.”
Before becoming COO, Chalke served as executive vice-president and head of Sogeti India, where he drove performance and talent initiatives. He also led the Global SAP Business at DXC Technologies (formerly CSC), managing worldwide client teams. Capgemini India today employs about 180,000 people across 13 cities, including Bengaluru, Coimbatore, Gandhinagar, Kolkata and Mumbai, while globally the group posted €22.1 billion in revenue in 2024.
