Marking a major step in its defence technology expansion, Lloyds Engineering Works Limited announced the signing of an MoU with FlyFocus Sp. z o.o., a European drone technology firm, to jointly develop FPV drones tailored for Indian defence applications.
The initiative builds on their ongoing collaboration on the Defender drone program, broadening the company’s role in India’s growing unmanned aerial vehicle ecosystem.
The FPV initiative is designed to strengthen India’s tactical drone capabilities with faster, more agile UAVs suitable for close-range missions. The agreement includes a structured technology transfer framework, ensuring over 50% localisation through component manufacturing and assembly in India.
The partnership aligns closely with the government’s Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat missions. Under the MoU, Lloyds Engineering will retain exclusive rights to adapt and deploy FPV drones domestically, while also exploring export opportunities through India’s manufacturing base.
The FPV drones are built for applications such as border surveillance, counter-terrorism, urban operations, and special missions, offering high precision and real-time intelligence. India’s defence allocations have surpassed ₹6.8 lakh crore for FY26, with over 90% of contracts going to Indian firms, creating a strong foundation for indigenous technology initiatives.
As per the exchange filings, Mr ShreeKrishna Gupta, Director, Lloyds Engineering Works Limited, said: “This MoU represents the next phase of our collaboration with FlyFocus. FPV drones will give Indian forces unmatched tactical flexibility and real-time capability. We’re committed to localising this technology and building future-ready solutions for India.”
