During the first quarter of 2026, domestic institutional investors (DIIs) continued their involvement in the Indian equity market, notably holding substantial stakes in major listed companies, including Reliance Industries and State Bank of India (SBI).
HDFC Bank Leads DII Holdings
As per The Economic Times report citing Primeinfobase data, as of June 30, 2026, HDFC Bank heads the list with DII holdings valued at ₹4,46,571 crore. It boasts a market capitalisation of ₹11,50,864 crore.
ICICI Bank holds the second spot with DII holdings worth ₹4,19,547 crore, maintaining a market capitalisation of ₹10,29,127 crore.
Key Holdings in Reliance Industries and SBI
Reliance Industries holds DII stakes worth ₹3,66,377 crore. Its market cap stands at ₹17,21,610 crore.
SBI's DII holdings amount to ₹2,50,716 crore, with a total market capitalisation of ₹9,34,692 crore.
Other Leading Companies
Larsen & Toubro marks its presence with ₹2,44,436 crore in DII holdings against a market cap of ₹5,21,732 crore. Bharti Airtel holds DII stakes of ₹2,40,008 crore with a market cap of ₹11,76,827 crore.
Axis Bank with DII holdings is valued at ₹1,78,715 crore, with a market capitalisation of ₹3,80,448 crore.
ITC shows similar investor interest with holdings valued at ₹1,76,306 crore and a market capitalisation of ₹3,52,454 crore.

Holdings in Infosys and Kotak Mahindra Bank
Infosys records ₹1,60,836 crore in DII holdings alongside a market capitalisation of ₹4,24,991 crore. Kotak Mahindra Bank also with DII holdings of ₹1,46,666 crore, against a market capitalisation of ₹3,81,307 crore.
