Zepto Private Limited recently scored a legal victory after the Delhi High Court issued an interim injunction restraining fraudulent entities from misusing its brand name and trademarks in fake job and franchise offerings, as per news reports.
Justice Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora of the Delhi High Court granted interim relief to Zepto in a trademark infringement case. The Court noted that unknown individuals were using Zepto’s name and logo across fake domain names, email addresses, social media platforms, and promotional materials to deceive the public. These entities falsely posed as Zepto representatives, claiming to offer job opportunities and franchise partnerships in exchange for significant payments.
This misconduct came to light when Zepto received multiple queries seeking verification of suspicious domain names and job offers that referenced the company. Zepto subsequently filed a police complaint and a civil suit for trademark infringement.
The Court directed defendants, including known and unknown entities (Defendants 1 to 7 and 19), to cease any use of Zepto’s trademarks. It prohibited further misuse in connection with fraudulent recruitment, phishing, impersonation, or the sale of goods and services. The Court specifically barred the use of any name identical or deceptively similar to “Zepto” in electronic or physical formats related to commerce or recruitment.

The Court also instructed tech platforms Meta and LinkedIn to remove fake profiles and divulge subscriber data for the infringing accounts within 3 weeks. Additionally, it ordered the Department of Telecommunications and MeitY to suspend flagged mobile numbers and domain names within 36 hours of notice. These measures aim to limit further harm to unsuspecting individuals falling prey to the scam.
The Court fixed the next hearing for February 18, 2026. Until then, the current injunction against the infringing parties will remain in effect. The Court maintained that allowing these parties to continue unauthorised use of Zepto’s brand may result in ongoing deception of the general public and damage to the company’s brand integrity.
Zepto's legal action reflects a crucial step in protecting consumers and preserving brand identity against digital fraud. The Delhi High Court’s swift response highlights the judiciary’s commitment to combating trademark misuse in the online space.
