
Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has announced the receipt of a major order from NTPC Limited for executing the 1x800 MW Darlipali Supercritical Thermal Power Project, Stage-II, located in Sundargarh district, Odisha.
The order, valued at over ₹6,650 crore (excluding GST), reinforces BHEL’s strong position as a leading engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) player in the Indian power sector.
The Notification of Award (NOA) was received on November 6, 2025, for the complete EPC package covering design, engineering, supply of equipment, erection, commissioning, and civil works for the Darlipali Stage-II project.
The contract has been awarded under international competitive bidding by NTPC Limited, a Government of India enterprise. The completion of facilities is scheduled within 48 months from the date of the award.
This prestigious project underlines BHEL’s continued partnership with NTPC in advancing India’s thermal power infrastructure. The 800 MW Darlipali Stage-II Supercritical unit will add significant generation capacity to the national grid and support the growing energy demand of eastern India. The project is expected to leverage BHEL’s extensive experience in delivering complex power projects with high efficiency and reliability.

The Darlipali Stage-II EPC project will be executed within a period of 48 months, ensuring timely completion and commissioning. The contract’s scope includes advanced engineering, efficient resource deployment, and adherence to environmental and safety standards, aligning with BHEL’s commitment to delivering excellence in large-scale power projects.
On November 7, 2025, Bharat Heavy Electricals share price opened at ₹258.00 on NSE, below the previous close of ₹260.05. During the day, it surged to ₹261.30 and dipped to ₹255.30. The stock is trading at ₹261.05 as of 10:47 AM. The stock registered a marginal change of 0.38%.
