The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority announced the results of one of the region’s most closely watched housing lotteries on Tuesday. The draw concluded a process that attracted more than 2.58 lakh applications for a limited stock of 4,186 flats across multiple districts.
The computerised selection process was held at the Zilla Parishad’s Sharad Chandra Pawar Hall. The outcome marks a major milestone for thousands of applicants seeking affordable housing in and around Pune.
The lottery was conducted using an automated computerised system to ensure transparency and fairness. Officials stated that this method has been used consistently across MHADA lotteries to eliminate manual intervention and prevent discrepancies.
The draw took place at the Zilla Parishad’s Sharad Chandra Pawar Hall, a venue selected to accommodate public viewing of the event. The procedure concluded without technical interruptions, marking the final step in a process that had seen previous delays.
The 2026 housing lottery included flats located within the Pune and Pimpri‑Chinchwad Municipal Corporation limits. It also covered units under the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority as well as in the districts of Solapur, Kolhapur and Sangli.
Of the total flats, 3,322 belonged to a 20% comprehensive housing scheme aimed at broader public access. A further 864 flats were allocated under a 15% social housing scheme, targeted at specific beneficiary groups.
MHADA originally advertised the lottery on September 11 of the previous year. The application deadline was extended twice due to technical issues and the enforcement of the election code of conduct during municipal polls.
Out of 258,832 applications received, only 215,965 were ultimately included in the draw after completing the deposit process. This translated into a competition ratio of around 52 applicants for every available flat, underscoring the acute housing demand in the region.
The authority emphasised that the computerised draw was designed to uphold transparency and public confidence. Officials noted that the process provided equal opportunity to all valid applicants irrespective of scheme type or project location.
For many applicants, the announcement represented a significant moment in their efforts to secure housing in a competitive market. MHADA also confirmed that unsuccessful applicants would receive their earnest money deposit refunds within 7 to 10 working days.

The publication of the MHADA Pune lottery results marks the end of an extensive and closely followed application cycle. A high volume of submissions pointed to ongoing affordability challenges and strong demand for government‑supported housing.
The computerised draw ensured transparent allocation of the 4,186 available flats. The results now pave the way for the next stages of documentation and possession for successful applicants.
