India’s identity verification system is set for a major upgrade as the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) moves away from Aadhaar photocopies and replaces them with secure QR code–based checks. The change aims to reduce data misuse, protect privacy, and make verification faster and more reliable.
For years, hotels, offices, telecom stores, and event organisers collected physical Aadhaar photocopies for basic ID checks. While simple, this practice opened the door to misuse, unauthorised storage, and data leaks.

This covers:

UIDAI’s shift from photocopies to QR-based checks marks a major step towards secure and privacy-friendly identity verification in India. The move protects citizens from data leaks, brings more control to users, and sets a higher standard for how personal information is handled across sectors. As businesses adopt this system, daily ID checks will become faster, safer, and far more transparent.
