The Delhi Lok Adalat, initially set for December 13, 2025, has been rescheduled to January 10, 2026. This change was necessitated by the High Court of Delhi declaring December 13 on a court sitting day, impacting the availability of court complexes for the Lok Adalat.

Delhi National Lok Adalat: One-day Window to Settle Eligible Traffic E-challans

Delhi’s National Lok Adalat will be held on Saturday, 10 January 2026, offering vehicle owners a limited, one-day chance to close eligible traffic e-challans without the usual back-and-forth of regular court hearings. The drive is meant to dispose of minor, compoundable traffic cases quickly across the city’s court complexes.

That said, it is not a blanket waiver for every pending challan. Only specific offences listed as compoundable on official portals can be considered, and eligibility depends on what is already reflected in the system.

Which Traffic Challans are Typically Eligible?

For January 10, Lok Adalat, the focus is on non-serious violations that can be compounded. Challans must be visible on the Delhi Traffic Police portal (or Parivahan) and must have been sent to the Virtual Court up to September 30, 2025.

Common examples that are generally taken up include:

  • Riding or driving without a helmet
  • Not wearing a seatbelt
  • Over-speeding
  • Jumping a red light
  • Wrong or improper parking
  • Driving without a valid PUC certificate
  • Disobeying traffic signs
  • Missing or improper number plates
  • Incorrectly issued challans
  • In limited cases, driving without a licence (subject to checks)

Serious offences (such as drunk driving or hit-and-run) are not meant for settlement through this process.

Key Conditions You Should Know Before You Register

  • Only challans visible on official portals can be taken up.
  • The challan must be compoundable in nature.
  • Online registration is mandatory and walk-ins are generally not accepted.
  • After registering, you must download the token and appointment letter, which are required for entry and listing.

How the Settlement Works (Simple Step-by-Step)

  1. Check pending challans on the Delhi Traffic Police website or Parivahan using your vehicle number or challan number.
  2. Confirm eligibility (minor, compoundable offences only).
  3. Register online with the required details.
  4. Download and print your token and appointment slip.
  5. Visit the assigned court on January 10, 2026, carrying originals such as RC, driving licence, insurance, PUC and the challan copy.
  6. Your case is heard by the Lok Adalat bench, which may reduce the fine or waive it, depending on the offence and records.
  7. If settled, pay the revised amount the same day and collect the receipt. The challan is then marked as resolved.

Where it Will be Held

The Lok Adalat is scheduled across all Delhi District Court Complexes, including Tis Hazari, Dwarka, Rohini, Saket, Patiala House, Karkardooma and Rouse Avenue, along with the Delhi High Court and Permanent Lok Adalats.

What is Lok Adalat?

Lok Adalat is, quite literally, a “people’s court” a forum where disputes are settled through mutual consent, usually in a faster, less formal way than regular court hearings. For traffic matters, it is used to clear minor, compoundable cases without long proceedings.
