A Lok Adalat will be organised at Surajpur Court in Noida on May 9, 2026, offering citizens a fast-track route to resolve pending traffic challans and a wide range of legal disputes. Organised under the aegis of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), the initiative aims to reduce litigation burden through mutual settlement.
The session will begin at 10:00 AM and is expected to draw individuals looking for quick, cost-effective resolution without prolonged court proceedings.
The Lok Adalat will allow settlement of pending e-challans issued by Uttar Pradesh Police under the Motor Vehicles Act. Importantly, only challans issued within Uttar Pradesh jurisdiction can be resolved here; cases from Delhi or other states must be addressed through respective state mechanisms.
Apart from traffic violations, the platform will also take up motor accident claims, matrimonial disputes (excluding divorce), civil matters, and cases under the Negotiable Instruments Act such as cheque bounce disputes.
The scope of settlement extends beyond routine disputes. Eligible matters include pre-litigation bank loan cases, electricity and telecom bill disputes, labour and service matters, pension-related issues, and revenue cases.
Additionally, compoundable criminal cases, including those under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, can also be resolved. The process relies on mutual consent, making it quicker and less adversarial than traditional litigation.
Authorities have streamlined the process to ensure accessibility. Citizens can directly visit the venue with relevant documents to settle their cases. For assistance, the traffic helpline (9971009001) and DLSA contact channels are available.
The system eliminates lengthy hearings, allowing both parties to arrive at a legally binding settlement on the same day in many cases.

The upcoming Lok Adalat in Noida presents a valuable opportunity for individuals to clear pending legal matters efficiently. By combining speed, affordability, and simplicity, it continues to serve as an effective alternative dispute resolution mechanism, especially for routine cases that would otherwise remain stuck in the judicial pipeline.
